Outside Plant Engineer

· Responsible for
daily operations of the outside fiber plant, including but not limited to,
engineering, permitting, site acquisitions, designing and maintaining of
new fiber rings, node inserts, and existing fiber facility relocations for
all markets.
· Maintains the security
of the outside plant underground network throughout each market by managing
cable locating contractors. This includes protecting our high profile
dark fiber customers such as Sprint, Verizon, Comcast, Cogent, Google, and
Windstream.
· Attend progress
meetings and coordinate with key project stakeholders to ensure workmanship
quality of installations by vendors meet all technical specifications with
respect to the customer’s expectations and seeing it all through final
completion.
· Assist Risk
Management to coordinate the signing and approval of the Building Access
Agreement for customer’s sites and premises.
· Review and
approve civil engineering plans to be submitted for construction.
Perform markup of Civil plans to be used as RGB’s (Red, Green Brown) markup
for FDOT roadway improvements and utility protection.
· Maintain training
of OSHA and company requirements.

· Coordination of
OSP construction and installation services. Manage the daily
operations of 5 underground crews, 6 aerial crews, and 7 sub-contractors in
the construction, installation, repair or placement of fiber, coax, and low
voltage wire. Site inspections to assure quality of work and
installation.
· Drive scheduled
activities to ensure all disciplines involved are meeting the goals and
objectives of the project. Award merits to individuals with
outstanding performance. Also, discipline anyone that does not meet
company standards. Recruit new associates and train to best practices
to maintain company strength.
· Provide cost
estimates of outside plant construction and interior low voltage wiring for
contract labor, materials, permit fees, and other Right of Way or Utility
Easement costs to be incurred. Assess and control charges to all
activities and sites.
· Attend meetings
with customers, developers, and other utilities to schedule the
construction and installation of the piping and cabling infrastructure for
telecommunications. Meet with city officials to insure all permits
required are applied and as-builds submitted.
